Implant Crowns

Placing a dental implant crown is a specialized procedure that Dr. Wayne & Dr Julie Scott use to restore the space in a patient’s mouth where a dental implant has been placed. This restoration creates an artificial tooth that directly connects to the dental implant. After a dental implant has been placed by an oral surgeon, a patient will wait an average of 3 months before restoring with a crown to allow complete healing time of the implant.

Once the implant has completely healed, Dr. Wayne & Dr Julie Scott can begin the custom implant crown restoration process. The doctor will need 2 appointments to complete your implant crown. At the first appointment, an abutment customized for your implant type will be screwed into the implant. The abutment is a metal cylinder that the implant crown will be built onto. The doctor will take an impression of the area and send the mold to a dental laboratory where your custom crown will be made. Once the crown is made, Dr. Wayne or Dr. Julie Scott will make any necessary adjustments and then permanently “seat” your custom implant crown. If you have any questions regarding the implant process or restoration, the doctors would be happy to answer your questions.
